The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) has published the call for applications for scholarships in favor of foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) for the Academic Year 2025–2026.
The initiative aims to promote international cooperation in the cultural, scientific, and technological fields, as well as to foster the dissemination of the Italian language and culture.
The grants will cover exclusively study, training, and/or research programs at Italian public universities or legally recognized institutions, with mandatory in-person attendance on Italian territory.
Grants are available for the following programs:
- Second-cycle Degree Courses (Laurea Magistrale) (9 months duration, renewable; maximum age: 28 years);
- Higher Education Courses in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) (9 months duration, renewable; maximum age: 28 years);
- PhD Programs (9 months duration, renewable; maximum age: 30 years);
- Research Projects under Academic Supervision (Co-tutorship) (9 months duration; maximum age: 40 years);
- Advanced Courses in Italian Language and Culture (3 months duration; minimum language proficiency required: A2 level of the CEFR).
Applicants must hold a degree valid for enrollment in the chosen courses and meet the language proficiency requirements set out in the call for applications.

Candidates must submit applications exclusively online through the “Study in Italy” portal.
Main Requirements:
- Degree valid for enrollment at the chosen institution;
- Age limits (28, 30, or 40 years);
- Adequate language proficiency (Italian or English) according to the chosen program;
- Submission of all required documentation (valid ID document, language certificates, letters of acceptance where applicable).
Deadline:
Candidates must submit their applications by 2:00 PM (Italian time) on 16 May 2025.
MAECI strongly recommends completing the application process well before the deadline to avoid technical issues.
