Pursuant to article. 104 of the Law Decree of the Italian Government no. 18/2020, the validity of the Italian identification documents which are expired or are due to expire after the date of the entry into force of the Law Decree (17.03.2020) is extended.
The validity of the documents (including passports and identity cards) is extended until 31.08.2020 for the purpose of personal identification only; therefore expired documents are not valid for travel.
Moreover, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, in application of art. 103 of the aforementioned Law Decree, has decided that the validity of Italian driving licenses, expiring from 31.01.2020 will be extended until 31.08.2020.
