Florence hosted the 14th edition of the ICHAJ Conference

Florence hosted the 14th edition of the ICHAJ Conference

A success that has involved hundreds of scholars, academics and experts. This, in short, is the balance of the 14th ICHAJ, the International Conference on the History and Archeology of Jordan, which was held in Florence last days and attended by the founder of the initiative, Prince Hassan bin Talal.

The celebration of ICHAJ once again confirmed the strength of the collaboration between Italy and Jordan in the fields of archeology and protection of historical and cultural heritage. Dozens of Jordanian scholars were granted a scholarship to participate in the conference thanks to the hospitality offered by the Italian government.

Among the protagonists of the debate were the numerous Italian archaeological missions, whose scientific results on the ground had a large resonance during the various working sessions.

During a special event it was discussed the fundamental role played by Italian cooperation, in collaboration with UNESCO and local authorities, for the protection of cultural heritage in areas of crisis.

The ICHAJ once again offered the opportunity to appreciate the work done by Italian archaeologists and scholars in the seven different missions covering all ages from prehistory to the Middle Ages, from the north to the south of Jordan. This is proof that mission support brings important results and encourages an ever-increasing commitment to invest in this fundamental field of scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
